Hawkins Transport QLD is looking for a Freight Handler to join our Cairns Depot.
This role supports the safe and efficient handling of general and refrigerated freight bound for regional and remote Queensland communities.

Key Responsibilities:

As a Freight Loader, you will be responsible for the following:

• Loading and unloading freight of various sizes in a safe and compliant manner

• Support drivers with deliveries and pick-ups as required

• Handle a variety of goods with care, ensuring they are securely packed and protected

• Follow all safety procedures and depot protocols

• Work efficiently in a fast-paced environment to meet scheduled departure times

• Sort and stage freight accurately for designated delivery runs

• Ensure all consignments are clearly labelled and supported by the correct con notes

• Maintain clean and safe depot grounds and work areas

• Follow load plans and instructions from the Depot Supervisor

• Assist with general depot duties and customer freight collection when required

What You’ll Need:

• Current forklift licence with experience loading freight

• Sound understanding of WHS and safe manual handling practices

• Strong attention to detail and the ability to work to schedules

• Reliable and physically fit, with the ability to handle freight manually

• Able to work rostered shifts and adapt to changing priorities

• Previous experience in a transport, freight, or warehouse role is preferred
