ABOUT THE ROLE
As Construction Manager, you will be responsible for end-to-end delivery of site works, ensuring all activities are properly coordinated, sequenced, and executed as one integrated system. You will initially work alongside the current Construction Manager.
Survey → Set-out → Drilling → Batching → Piling → Remediation → Handover
Success in this role comes from keeping these stages moving in sequence - not in isolation.
This is a fixed-term, site-based role on a project in New South Wales, with roster opportunities available.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
You are responsible for how work flows through the project delivery cycle.
This includes managing the interaction between crews, work fronts, and plant to maintain consistent production.
You will:
- plan 1–3 days ahead across all scopes and crews
- ensure each stage is ready before the next crew moves
- ensure outputs are complete, accurate, and usable by the next stage
- prevent dependent tasks getting too far ahead, falling behind, or disrupting subsequent works
- ensure handovers between crews are clean, complete, and immediately workable
- direct Supervisors on priorities, locations, and setup
- ensure work fronts are prepared and accessible before crews arrive
- manage SIMOPS so crews and plant can operate without interfering with each other
- ensure required labour, plant, and materials (e.g. fuel, sand, consumables) are in place to maintain production
- understand the capability and limitations of equipment on site
- reallocate or swap plant where required to maintain production
- step in to resolve basic operational or equipment issues that are slowing progress
- identify issues early before impacting production
- coordinate with internal functions (HSE, commercial, HR, maintenance) to ensure site delivery aligns with and achieves overall business outcomes
WHAT WE ARE LOOKING FOR IN YOU
- Strong experience in site-based construction delivery, not office-based project management
- Proven ability to manage multiple crews and dependent scopes working in sequence
- Demonstrated experience controlling production flow, work fronts, and handovers between stages
- Strong understanding of SIMOPS, site constraints, and coordinating overlapping activities
- Solid working knowledge of drilling, piling, batching, and associated plant, including:
- understanding equipment capability and limitations
- ability to troubleshoot basic issues on site
- confidence to reallocate or swap plant to maintain production
- Experience leading Supervisors and driving consistent standards across crews
- Ability to identify issues early and implement practical solutions before they impact production
- Confident making decisions in real time in a fast-paced, site environment
- Strong communication skills with the ability to give clear direction on site
