Jobs/Responsibilities

The main responsibility of the Communications Lead is to guide external communications and marketing, provide strategic communications advice including issues and crisis management and maintain a communication’s framework that enhances all communications to positively position Council with the community. This includes:

  • Leading the delivery of communication and marketing services including all media and community communications in line with the approved Delivery/Operational Plan and Community Strategic Plan
  • Offering strategic advice on communication, marketing, and media to the Manager of Corporate Communications and Engagement, including support for external communications and handling issues or crises management
  • Supporting and guiding staff across Council to strengthen communication skills and capabilities.
  • Creating content for use across Council’s various communication channels.
  • Demonstrating best practices in communication by preparing and writing content for traditional, social, and digital media, as well as for customer and stakeholder communications.

Skills/Experience

To be successful in this position you will need:

  • Experience in a similar role
  • Tertiary qualification in Communications or related field
  • Demonstrated experience in managing and monitoring web content, social media and creating content for diverse media channels
  • High level communication skills both verbal and written including the capacity to interact with all levels of staff and the public
