About Us
Maitland City Council is a diverse and dynamic organisation in a rapidly growing LGA. Our Asset Team looks after over 2.1 billion dollars in assets including roads, drainage, bridges, major structures, buildings, recreational and aquatics. We ensure we provide the community infrastructure at an agreed level of service and in a financially sustainable way. The process of asset management planning considers assets that are critical for growth, and the cost of building, maintaining and replacing these, including resources, timeframes and capabilities.
About the Role
As the Senior Asset Strategy Engineer, you will be responsible for the leadership of the day-to-day work and functioning of the Asset Strategy Team, providing professional advice relating to Council's asset management framework.
You will implement and provide technical input into Council's Service Asset Management Plans, incorporating life-cycle management, long-term value and targeted levels of service to the community. You will develop and implement Councils Delivery Program, estimate asset replacement costs, review work practices, procedures and programs, and provide overall strategic direction to achieve greater efficiency and cost effectiveness.
Managing the Pavement Management system and related support activities, you will ensure comprehensive data collection, monitoring, and reporting. A collaborative approach to managing and maintaining Council's assets is essential, working closely with various departments and stakeholders to achieve shared goals.
Benefits
This is a permanent full-time role working 35 hours per week with a base salary ranging from $108,697 - $120,654 per year + 3.5% civil liability allowance + 11.5% p.a superannuation + private leaseback vehicle.

About You
To be successful in this role, you will need a tertiary qualification in Civil Engineering or equivalent, along with contemporary experience in civil infrastructure or asset management and planning.
The successful candidate will possess experience and knowledge in utilising financial, asset management, GIS (Geographic Information Systems), and work management systems.
The ability to supervise, coach, and support staff members is essential, along with strong interpersonal skills, including negotiation, problem-solving, effective communication, and conflict resolution.
Lastly, prior experience in generating meaningful reports for sound decision-making is highly valued. The ability to synthesize complex information into clear, actionable insights facilitates informed decision-making processes and ensures strategic alignment with organizational objectives.
