About the Role
The Governance Coordinator role offers an exciting opportunity to lead and manage the dynamic Governance Team, ensuring the seamless delivery of services and projects that enhance Council's governance framework. As a permanent, full-time role, you will work 35 hours per week, supervising, leading and guiding a dedicated team of governance professionals to fulfil Governance, Compliance, Policy and other statutory requirements of the Council.
Reporting directly to the Manager - Business Assurance & Risk, the focus of the role is to:
- Oversee the provision of an effective Secretariat for the coordination of the calling, conducting and completion of Council and Committee meeting business and decision making of the Council and advise on governance issues relevant to Local Government and Council.
- Manage the processing of and make determinations for applications made under the NSW Government Information (Public Access) Act 2009 and the Privacy and Personal Information Protection Act 1998, to ensure Council's compliance.
- Ensure processes and protocols are in place to effectively coordinate and monitor the organization's compliance with all relevant legislation and Council policies and procedures are regularly updated
This role does require occasional overtime and work in the evenings to assist and attend Council & Committee meetings.

The advertised salary is based on the grade of the position, comprising of 4 steps within the range shown. The starting salary is at Step 1 within the grade. Progression through the salary steps shall be based upon the achievement of performance objectives relating to the position.
About You
To be successful in the position, you will have:
- Relevant Tertiary qualifications at a minimum Certificate IV in a relevant discipline and/or substantial demonstrated experience in a similar role
- Experience in Local Government
- Current Class C Driver's Licence
- Proof of Australian residency or citizenship, or authority to work in Australia (visa)
We are seeking a candidate with a strong understanding of legislation and policy frameworks related to organisational governance. The ideal candidate will possess highly developed written communication skills and demonstrate the ability to effectively manage and guide a team, fostering a collaborative and productive work environment.
