ADD VALUE - THE ROLE

The Team Leader – Disaster Risk Reduction is responsible for leading a small team in the delivery of multiple Disaster Risk Reduction initiatives including the development of a Disaster Risk Reduction Strategy, executing tasks identified by the Strategy as well as supporting the needs of the Local Emergency Management Committee. 

Key responsibilities include:

  • Project manage the Disaster Risk Reduction grant’s deliverables including the development of project plans, monitoring budgets and undertaking milestone reporting and evaluations
  • Develop and implement disaster readiness and recovery policies and strategies
  • Coordinate the ongoing establishment and support preparedness initiatives including Get Ready Teams in identified communities
  • Deliver community education programs and community strengthening activities in preparedness for response and hazards
  • Strengthen relationships between community and disaster response agencies

Essential to this role is tertiary qualifications in environmental or social science, or relevant experience with disaster risk reduction complemented by demonstrated understanding of current State and National Disaster Risk Reduction strategic documentation. Success in this role requires highly developed communication and engagement skills, excellent interpersonal, negotiation and change management ability with demonstrated success in networking and collaborating across diverse groups with an outcome focus. 

This position is offered on a term contract, full-time basis working 35 hours per week until February 2027.

Remuneration package for this position is based on Grade 12 of Council's Salary System Protocol which equates to a base salary of $90,186 - $101,446 per annum plus a generous vehicle allowance of $17,639 and 11.5% superannuation.
