Governance Officer

About the Role
This is a permanent, full time position working as part of our dedicated Governance team to provide executive and administrative support in matters relating to the convening, conducting and minuting of Council committee meetings and Local Government elections. Reporting directly to the Governance Coordinator, the focus of this role is to:

  • Convene Council Meetings, Committee Meetings, Councillor Briefings and Workshops, Resident Briefing Meetings and Public Meetings in conjunction with CEO, relevant Chairperson and Directors
  • Complete administrative tasks and arrangements for Council Meetings and follow up any enquiries received from members of the public in a timely manner
  • Prepare meeting venues, catering, and remote access arrangements
  • Compile and distribute Business Papers/ Agendas
  • Attend meetings of Council and designated Committees to record live minutes including meetings held outside of business hours
  • Allocation of Council and Committee Resolutions for action by staff
  • Provide specialist governance advice to ensure meetings are held and recommendations and resolutions are enacted in accordance with legislation, government policy and requirements
  • Maintain the governance registers of Council including Delegations, Legislative Compliance Register, Initial and Annual Pecuniary Interest Disclosures and Community Donations

About You
To be successful in the position, you will have:

  • Certificate IV in Office Administration, Business or equivalent, with relevant experience.
  • Extensive experience providing administrative support to corporate executive functions, including coordination and support of board or Council meetings
  • Experience in the publication of a range of internal and external correspondence, reports, business papers and promotional material.
  • Current Class C Driver's Licence
  • Proof of Australian residency or citizenship, or authority to work in Australia (visa)
