About the role
As the Facilities Stream Leader, and reporting to the Assets, Facilities and Fleet Manager – and you will play a pivotal role in ensuring that Council’s infrastructure and facilities meet the strategic and operational needs of the North Burnett region.
You will be responsible for delivering high-quality asset management strategies, overseeing maintenance and capital works, and driving continuous improvement initiatives. This role requires you to work closely with internal and external stakeholders, manage projects and budgets, and ensure compliance with relevant standards and legislation. This is an exciting opportunity to make a tangible impact on the region by aligning Council’s facilities with community and organisational requirements.
About you
You are a proactive and strategic thinker with a strong background in Property or Asset Management, ideally within a local government environment. You bring at least five years of leadership experience and hold relevant qualifications in disciplines such as Building and Construction or Project Management.
Known for your high-level communication, analytical, and problem-solving skills – you excel at working collaboratively with diverse stakeholders and leading teams to achieve results. Your expertise in building construction, project management, and compliance ensures that all works are delivered on time, within budget, and to the highest standards. With a passion for driving operational excellence and a commitment to continuous improvement, you are ready to lead Council’s facilities to new heights.
Key responsibilities will include, but are not limited to:
- Identify, assess and develop infrastructure/ facility asset management strategies, plans and programs which enhance the organisation’s capacity to deliver high quality, strategic and cost-effective outcomes, ensuring they are relevant to Local Government standards, legislation and required Acts, Codes and Standards.
- Provide high quality customer service, technical advice and assistance to internal and external stakeholders.
- Conduct audits, property assessments and general inspections to ensure infrastructure/ facility asset maintenance and upgrades comply with strategic outcomes.
- Manage and monitor capital and maintenance projects, including quotations/ tenders, contracts and contractor performance.
- Closely manage all works and associated costs to ensure expenditure is kept within budgetary limits.
- Lead change, drive business process improvement opportunities and efficiencies.
- Provide solid and contemporary advice/ leadership and professional development across the Facilities Stream.
