Our Learn to Swim program is expanding!

Council are seeking swim instructors to join the team to coordinate and deliver professional learn to swim programs focusing on developing water safety and swimming abilities of our participants. 

You will be required to have relevant qualifications, be enthusiastic, motivated, reliable and provide a positive and engaging experience. 

Our programs range from babies to squad levels as well as providing programs for adaptive needs and adults. Classes run Monday to Friday both mornings and afternoons and on a Saturday morning. 

Lessons are held at our 25m heated pool at Oak Flats, however intensive classes are held at our Albion Park & Warilla pools during the summer months.

What you will need:

  • Current Teacher of Swimming & Water Safety Certificate (SISSS00132)
  • Current Provide First Aid & CPR certificate
  • Current "Working with Children Check" clearance in accordance with the 'Child Protection (WWC) Act 2012 for paid workers
  • Pool lifeguard licence (or ability to obtain within probation)
  • Completed or willingness to complete the Competitive Strokes / Foundation Coach and/or Teacher of Infant and Preschool Aquatics (INF) would be highly regarded

Key responsibilities and tasks include (not limited to):

  • Delivering learn to swim programs and coordinate in a professional manner
  • Communicate effectively to the public, including swimming participants and carers
  • Work Health and Safety Awareness
  • Be part of a team and work unsupervised
  • Undertake cash handling responsibilities and reception duties when required
  • Promote Council's swim programs
  • Provide feedback and suggestions to improve swimming programs

2 x Permanent Part-time positions

  • 15.2 hours per week with the opportunity to work additional hours
  • Commencing salary range from $30.64 - $32.52 per hour
  • Plus 11.5% superannuation
  • Additional penalty rates are paid to the ordinary hourly rate of pay for Saturday work

Please Note: 

  • This position requires a current "Working with Children Check" clearance in accordance with the 'Child Protection (WWC) Act 2012 for Paid workers
  • You will need to complete a Pre-placement Medical Assessment
  • As part of the recruitment process, you may need to pass a Fitness and Skill assessment
