Gilgandra Shire Council is seeking a Apprentice Parks & Gardens Groundsperson to join the Infrastructure team!

  • Permanent full time - 38 hours per week
  • Rostered day off every fortnight - an extra 22 days off a year!
  • Weekly pay cycle
  • Salary range $584.20 - $1194.60 (Depending on age and experience)

ABOUT THE ROLE

Council currently has an excellent opportunity to commence an apprenticeship as a Parks and Gardens Groundsperson. Throughout the apprenticeship, you will be required to complete a Certificate III in Parks & Gardens whilst gaining practical experience.

Council will fund all related training expenses as approved by Council and the successful applicant will be employed for up to two (2) years.

Council will offer a range in wages in accordance with the salary structure depending on age, acquired skills and experience.  

Salary and conditions will be in accordance with the Local Government (State) Award 2023.

ABOUT YOU

Council is looking for someone who has the following qualities, experience and/or qualifications:

  • Class C drivers Licence - Provisional Licence acceptable
  • Possess a genuine commitment to complete apprenticeship within the required timeframes
  • Possess a genuine interest in parks, gardens and public open space maintenance
  • Positive attitude to work and willingness to work as a team and to help others
  • WH&S Construction Induction (White) Card or completion prior to employment
  • Sound numeracy and literacy skills 
  • Ability to wear all personal protective equipment (PPE) provided by Council
  • Ability to complete time and plant sheets
  • Punctual and good attendance record
  • Knowledge and use of a wide range of gardening tools and equipment including power tools
