ADD VALUE - THE ROLE

Are you an experienced Development Planner with a passion for People Leadership? Are you looking for the next step in your career? 

The Senior Development Planner is responsible for the assessment of development applications and provision of quality customer service to the community and developers. You will also manage complex planning and development related matters.

In addition to the normal day-to-day responsibilities of a Senior Development Planner, you will:

  • Undertake peer review of reports prepared by development planners
  • Provide both written and verbal advice in relation to, land use, zoning, permissibility and compliance with relevant legislation and Council policies
  • Attend and chair pre-lodgement meetings; issuing minutes as required
  • Consult and negotiate with the public, developers, and government authorities
  • Mentor and support development planners
  • Represent Council in Land and Environment Court proceedings

To be successful in this role you will have a degree or diploma in Town Planning complemented by extensive experience in the assessment of development applications, comprehensive knowledge of the Environmental Planning & Assessment Act 1979, Local Government Act 1993 and associated legislation and the ability to provide advice and guidance to development planners in relation to the processing of development applications and interpretation of legislation.

As a Senior Development Planner, you will report to the Coordinator of Planning and Development Services, lead a small team and have the support of dedicated administration officers with the flexibility to balance work and life through a range of options to suit a variety of situations. 

This position is offered on a permanent, full-time basis working 35 hours per week.

Remuneration package for this position is based on Grade 14 of Council's Salary System Protocol which equates to a base salary of $106,329 - $119,606 plus a vehicle allowance of $17,639.77 and superannuation per annum totaling a TRP of $138,225 - $153,029.
