The role

MidCoast Council Libraries are a foundational part of our local communities, where members and visitors can explore their creativity, engage in literacy and life long learning programs, access a multitude of physical and digital collections and resources, and engage with fellow community members in community and cultural events. 

Our Library Assistants support our community by providing a positive customer service experience and creating an environment which promotes a love of reading and learning. We currently have a temporary Library Assistant position to cover maternity leave at our Hallidays Point Library. 

Our Library Assistants are responsible for;

  • greeting community members and fostering a welcoming and inclusive library space
  • completing customer transactions and assisting with enquiries
  • carrying out day-to-day Library operations such as assisting with promotional displays, shelving books and general tidying
  • providing technological support to individuals accessing computer and internet services, digital collections, and library technologies 
  • supporting the delivery of library events and programs

Requirements for the role include;

  • A passion and commitment for delivering a high level of customer service
  • Strong interpersonal skills
  • Familiarity with navigating standard PC software applications
  • Current Working with Children Check or willingness to obtain

The package: $29.82 p/hour plus superannuation (negotiable based on skills and experience). 

Location: This position will be based at Hallidays Point Library, 87 High Street, Hallidays Point.

Tenure:

  • Maximum term position to February 2026 
  • 17.5 hours per week - 3.5 hours on Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday, Friday
  • Additional Saturdays will also be required

Closing date: Sunday 26 January 2025 at 11.30 pm.
