The Opportunity
Lithgow City Council has an exciting opportunity for a Truck Driver (Recreation) to join their team in Lithgow, NSW.
Reporting to the Senior Grounds Technician, you will be responsible for the maintenance of Council’s Recreation areas including sports fields, playgrounds, parks and streetscapes according to work instructions and any other duties requested by the Recreation Supervisor.
More specifically, your duties will include (but will not be limited to):
- Maintaining Councils recreation areas and sports fields
- Maintaining and operating plant and equipment
- Transport recreation equipment and materials
- Provide equipment and materials for special events
- Control traffic (Stop/slow and Implement Traffic Management Plans)
- Maintain trees, parks, gardens, streetscapes and reserves.

About you
The successful candidate will meet the following criteria:
- Class MR Drivers Licence
- WH&S General Induction for Construction Certificate (Whitecard)
- Experience in small plant operation including mowers, chainsaws etc
- Chainsaw Operations – Trim & Cut
- Traffic Controller – Stop/Slow Ticket
- Traffic Control – Implement Traffic Management Plans
- Previous horticultural experience
- Ability to work in a team environment
- Demonstrated commitment to and understanding of Work Health and Safety
- Demonstrated commitment to the principles of integrity and honesty
In addition, an ideal candidate would have experience in operation of tractor/slasher, working on recreational playing surfaces, chainsaw operations basic tree fell, hold a first aid certificate and ChemCert Certificate.
