The Opportunity
Lithgow City Council has an exciting opportunity for an Apprentice Gardener to join their team in Lithgow, NSW.
During this four year apprenticeship you will complete a Certificate III in Parks and Gardens and you will also undertake practical on the job training as part of the team responsible for the maintenance of Council's Parks and Recreations areas. You will assist in the maintenance of Council's Parks and Recreation areas.
More specifically, your duties will include (but will not be limited to):
- Maintain turf and garden machinery
- Operate machinery including mowers, tractor/ride on machines/gang mowers
- Maintain parks and gardens
- Complete garden construction, materials and activities
- Treat/Lop Trees
- Complete required study within designated timeframe

About you
The successful candidate will meet the following criteria:
- Genuine interest in Horticulture
- Completion of Year 10 school education
- Ability to demonstrate self motivation and reliability
- A willingness to learn and further develop skill set
- Demonstrated ability to work as part of a team
- Commitment to Work Health and Safety
- Demonstrated commitment to the principals of honesty and integrity
In addition, an ideal candidate would have experience in garden maintenance.
Salary and Benefits

- Between $584.20 and $1,194.60 per week, commensurate with your skills, qualifications and experience
- Temporary, Full-time Apprenticeship, 38 hours per week
