Salary Range: $41 - $47 per hour (including 25% casual loading) + superannuation

We are currently seeking casual staff for both our Coolah and Coonabarabran officers, to support our customer service team during busy periods and to cover staff leave. Our Customer Service Officers (CSOs) are a first point of contact for Council and are responsible for welcoming and greeting visitors and customers. Council’s Customer Service Officers also undertake front-desk activities, including sending mail, distributing correspondence and redirecting phone calls. The CSO’s duties include providing administrative support within the department, including Council’s Records functions.

To be successful, you will need to have a positive attitude, as this is a customer service role. Multitasking, time management skills and the ability to deal with challenging situations are essential for this position.
Ultimately, the Customer Service Officer’s duties and responsibilities are to ensure the front desk welcomes the public positively, and executes all administrative tasks to the highest quality standards.

Selection criteria include:

  • Certificate III in Business Administration or related field and / or significant experience in a customer service environment
  • Experience using computerised cashiering procedures
  • Demonstrated exceptional customer service skills - including telephone, reception and counter service
  • Proven ability to deal effectively with a range of people, including difficult customers
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills enabling clear and effective communication with a diverse range of customers and stakeholders
  • Proficient in word processing (MS Word preferred)
  • Demonstrated organisational and time management skills 
  • Class C NSW Drivers Licence
