Renewable Energy Project Coordinator (Fixed Term – 3 years)
Location: Tamworth, NSW
THE OPPORTUNITY
- Provide strategic and coordinated response to renewable energy and transmission projects within the Tamworth Region in particular, management of EnergyCo projects.
- Work collaboratively across Council to provide and coordinate a strategic response to renewable energy and transmission projects and policy.
- Engage with key external stakeholders such as Government Departments and agencies, developers and the community.
The Energy Corporation of NSW (EnergyCo) is a statutory authority established under the Energy and Utilities Administration Act 1987 and is responsible for leading the delivery of Renewable Energy Zones (REZs) as part of the NSW Government’s Electricity Infrastructure Roadmap (the Roadmap). The Roadmap sets out the NSW Government’s vision to coordinate investment in electricity transmission, generation, storage and associated infrastructure.
Although located on the edge of the New England Renewable Energy Zone (REZ), Tamworth Regional Council is receiving a significant number of renewable energy projects including solar, wind, battery storage and transmission lines and is also affected by other projects that rely on Council and state road networks through the Tamworth Region. Council has been fortunate in receiving EnergyCo funding (for a three year period) to engage an appropriately qualified professional to manage Council’s contact, interaction and engagement with the renewable energy industry, including proponents, consultants etc.; land owners, affected communities, the Department of Planning Housing and Infrastructure, Transport for NSW and other relevant state agencies. COULD THIS BE YOU?
Reporting directly to the Director of Liveable Communities this position will:
- Provide a strategic and cohesive approach to renewable energy and transmission projects impacting the Tamworth region, with a focus on managing EnergyCo initiatives, including the rollout of transmission lines.
- Responsible for ensuring timely and accurate completion of all organizational reporting requirements, including those stipulated in the agreement between EnergyCo and Tamworth Regional Council, as well as invoicing.
The successful appointee will bring to this position the following:
- Tertiary qualifications in Planning, Engineering, Environment, Business, Economics, Development Engineering or a related discipline.
- Experience in Project Management.
- Demonstrated understanding and experience of the renewable energy sector.
- Previous experience and understanding of Local Government environment.
- Demonstrated ability to interpret and communicate legislation, in particular legislation relevant to the renewable energy industry.
- Ability to effectively conduct meetings and facilitate group discussions.

Salary range: Grade 18 - $102.019.54 - $113,394.21 per annum (plus superannuation) for a 35 hour work week. Salary may be negotiated based on skills, experience and your value to our organisation.
Flexible working arrangements will be considered by mutual agreement and according to operational requirements.
