About the role
The position of Civil Works Engineer reports directly to the Civil Works Manager and will oversee Civil Works Construction and Maintenance, along with Parks and Open Spaces operations across the North Burnett region.
This key leadership position is responsible for delivering Construction, Maintenance and Captial Works programs - from feasibility and design, through to construction and completion of projects - whilst ensuring the delivery is within budget and prescribed timeframes.
About you
While experience within Local Government is highly desirable, it is not essential as we are looking for solutions focused individuals that can deliver positive outcomes for the community. Successful candidates will also hold tertiary qualifications in an Engineering, Construction or Project Management focused discipline.
Key responsibilities will include, but are not limited to:
- Identify and scope capital and operational projects based on asset data and community and staff feedback.
- Manage and coordinate the delivery of approved projects in line with Council and statutory requirements.
- Procure goods and services in accordance with Local Government regulations and Council’s policies and procedures.
- Manage contracts in accordance with contemporary contract management practices, including acting as Contract Representative/ Principal’s Representative.
- Provide leadership to ensure that outcomes are achieved within time, cost, quality requirements.
- Oversee site construction of awarded contracts and day labour works including site inspections.
- Prepare submissions as required that may include funding applications, budgets, project progress and management reports.
- Engage with internal and external key stakeholders in relation to project delivery and completion including Government agencies, community members and contractors in accordance with Council’s engagement framework.
- Provide reports, recommendations and advice on technical matters and project activities to management, Council, public and organisations.
- Ensure all work is undertaken in accordance with relevant legislation, standards and specifications.
