Your New Role:
Kempsey Shire Council is looking for an experienced Electrical and Instrumentation Technician.
Reporting to the Team Leader Electrical, the Electrical and Instrumentation Technician is responsible for participating as part of a team to carry out reactive and preventative maintenance, repair and upgrade of Council’s electrical instrumentation assets with Council’s water, wastewater and flood warning infrastructure, and monitor accuracy, performance and reliability of Council’s instrumentation assets.
Key Accountabilities Include:
- Installation, calibration, maintenance and repair of Council’s instrumentation infrastructure for water supply, wastewater, water quality and flood warning systems.
- Identify, assess and make recommendations where instrumentation upgrades can provide better service reliability, increased cost effectiveness and/or improved functionality.
- Monitor, measure, communicate and report on issues, improvement opportunities and risks. Pro-actively verify and report technical deviations and suspected malfunctions and variances.
- Use specialised skills to complete all work to industry best practice and relevant Australian and international standards.
- Systematically and logically fault-find and problem-solve in all situations.

About You:
To be successful in this role, you will possess:
- Electrical trade qualifications (Certificate III Electrotechnology) that includes holding and maintaining a current NSW electrical qualified supervisors’ certificate.
- Instrumentation trade or post trade qualifications or equivalent extensive instrumentation experience.
- Hold and maintain a current NSW Class ‘C’ Driver’s license.
- Current Construction Induction Certificate.
- Relevant Work Cover Certificates and Licenses/Industry Training i.e., Working at Heights, Confined Spaces, Elevated Work Platform.
You will have demonstrated experience in industrial instrumentation installation, maintenance, fault finding and repairs to associated control systems (Water and Sewer experience highly desired)
You will also possess experience in troubleshooting and fault-finding control loops, as well as tuning field controllers and adjusting PID settings. S well as experience in PLC’s, SCADA and/or Telemetry control systems.
