YOUR ROLE
This is your opportunity to join Goulburn Mulwaree Council’s dynamic Environment & Health business unit.

 

As the Aboriginal Trainee Environmental Health Officer, you will gain valuable skills and experience whilst:

  • inspecting swimming pools, food, skin penetration and other businesses
  • responding to enquiries and investigating complaints
  • sampling water and undertaking mosquito monitoring
  • educating people to protect health and the environment 

 

YOUR ELIGIBILITY

To be eligible for this traineeship, you will:

  • identify as an Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander person by descent and identity, who is recognised by the Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander community
  • be able to successfully enrol in the Bachelor of Science (Environmental Health) at Western Sydney University
  • hold a current Class C Driver’s Licence

 

YOUR TRAINEESHIP

In this six-year traineeship you will:

  • study a Bachelor of Science (Environmental Health) degree at Western Sydney University by distance part-time and attend workshops
  • have paid study leave and tutoring
  • have university fees paid for all subjects you pass
  • have structured on-the-job training
  • be part of the Aboriginal Environmental Health Officer trainee network
  • gain access to e-learning platforms

 

YOUR WORKING ENVIRONMENT

Once on board, you will have access to:

  • a commencing annual salary of $56,789 with ongoing progression through to $80,511 upon completion of studies, plus 11.5% superannuation
  • a 35 hour week, over a 9 day fortnight
  • flexible working arrangements under Council’s Flex First Procedure including access to an individualised hours agreement
  • 2 health and wellbeing leave days for your Christmas break
  • 3 weeks sick leave per year, cumulative where unused
  • long service leave after 5 years of employment
