As a WHS Officer, you’ll play an essential, hands-on role in managing and improving workplace health and safety at Dubbo Regional Council. Combining the diversity of outdoors and office-based work, you’ll identify and analyse risks and hazards and ensure the development of appropriate documentation and solutions to promote a work environment that allows all workers to thrive. You’ll also have the opportunity to actively contribute to safety initiatives, performance improvement and foster a positive safety culture. By immersing yourself into interesting, diverse challenges, you’ll continually refine your skills and shape a dynamic career. We currently have positions available in both Dubbo and Wellington.
You’ll find growth through:
- Developing, implementing and supporting the utilisation of WHS management systems and programs.
- Conducting WHS inspections and risk management assessments to control and eliminate risks.
- Carrying out ergonomic/manual handling task assessments.
- Interpreting WHS legislation and relevant codes of practices.
- Collaborating with employees to build awareness and encourage positive safety behaviours and attitudes.
What you'll bring
To thrive in this role, you will need:
- A Certificate IV in WHS or a related field, or strong operational experience deemed equivalent.
- Strong interpersonal skills to effectively interact
with employees providing support and promoting a strong safety culture. - Proven experience undertaking a thorough risk assessment
process identifying and mitigating potential hazards. - Experience in conducting audits and inspections to ensure
compliance with legislation and regulations. - Knowledge and experience with safety management systems
and related technology.
We would also love you to have:
- Experience in local government across the breadth of business activity
and applicable safety requirements. - General Construction Induction Card.
- Certificate
IV in workplace Training and Assessing or equivalent.

This position offers an attractive annual salary ranging from $71,401 to $82,981.
