About the Opportunity
The primary purpose of this role is to work as a member of a team to operate a low loader truck and assist with plant allocation and movement activities in accordance with road construction and maintenance work program objectives, Council policies and procedures.

This fulltime position operates over a 38-hour week with a 9-day fortnight, with opportunity for overtime. Below is a general description of the role, for more detail please refer to the attached position description.
General Activities of this position
Work as a member of a team to undertake vehicle and plant operation duties to assist in relevant works including:

Driving and operating the prime mover with the low loader or side tipper.

Assisting with associated road construction activities including operation of relevant construction plant, roadside maintenance, road construction set-out and manual works as required in accordance with the road construction and maintenance work program objectives, Council policies and procedures.

Providing timely and accurate reports to the Fleet & Depots Coordinator regarding faults, operational characteristics and performance and undertaking light plant maintenance on the vehicle and plant within operator’s capabilities.

Carrying out traffic control at worksites including implementing Traffic Guidance Schemes (TGSs).

Completing all relevant records including timesheets, prestart checklist, plant sheets, risk assessments and other legislative related paperwork.

Carry out duties associated with environmental protection and control.

Undertaking site specific inductions and actively participating in toolbox meetings.

Undertaking work outside of normal hours and overtime as required to progress or complete assigned tasks.
What Do You Need to Be Successful?
Essential
- Construction Induction Certification (White Card).
- Class HC driver's licence
- Previous experience in operation of various plant in a construction environment.
- Effective communication skills with the ability to understand and follow detailed written and verbal instructions.
- Demonstrated commitment to a team-based approach, reliability and punctuality, with a proven ability to work in a team environment.
- Displays a positive attitude.
Desirable
- HRW licence for regulated plant.
- Current Implement Traffic Control Plans and Traffic Controller Certification.

- Employment is under the Local Government (State) Award 2023.
- This position is graded 5 in Council's salary system.
- Gross weekly wage range is $1116.30 to $1202.10 dependent upon qualifications and experience.
