Permanent Full-time Opportunity– 35-hour week -19-day 4-week cycle.
Salary range $109,450.12 - $127,198.76 per annum + 11.5% Superannuation per annum (Depending on Experience & Qualifications)

The Opportunity

The position of Senior Development Compliance Officer actively undertakes the business functions associated with proactive audits of approved developments within the Local Government Area to ensure compliance with statutory controls, adopted policy positions and conditions of development consent, undertaking investigations, and compliance actions relating to development and environmental matters, and extractive industry annual inspection programs to ensure that environmental controls are maintained and contributions are levied in accordance with approvals.

The position will assist the Coordinator Compliance and Regulation by providing advice to the Development Compliance Officers and participating in a business transformation model to achieve cultural change and succeed in accomplishing agreed service delivery outcomes.

About You

  1. Tertiary qualifications in Town Planning, Urban and Regional Planning, Building Surveying, Environmental Management or equivalent discipline or a minimum 5 years’ demonstrated experience in Local Government delivering statutory provision under Environmental Planning and Assessment Act and Regulation, Local Government Act 1993, Protection of the Environment Operations Act 1997, Roads Act 1993 and National Construction Code and Standards.
  2. Demonstrated experience in the establishment, implementation and review of compliance audit programs including attendance at construction sites to ensure compliance with approved plans and prescribed conditions of development consent.
  3. Previous experience in staff mentoring and building capacity in order to professionally develop technical skills and experience to meet both compliance targets and achieve customer service commitments.
  4. Proven ability in communication to a wide range of audiences, ability to negotiate outcomes and seek compliance through the use of a variety of regulatory tools including notices, orders, penalties and court proceedings.
  5. Demonstrated experience in Microsoft operating suite including Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook and proficient use of Electronic Data Management Systems such as Tech 1 ECM, Tech 1 Property and Rating, computer based global information systems and customer request management systems.
  6. Proven analytical and problem-solving skills including the ability to critically analyse issues and the ability to develop and implement appropriate solutions.
  7. Hold C Class drivers' licence and WHS Induction Card.
