As a Plant Operator you will provide safe and effective transport of Council employees and/or plant and materials, operate plant for maintenance and construction works, and maintain plant in a serviceable condition. When the plant is idle or under repair, this role is required to perform non-driving duties including undertake construction works and labouring.

We are seeking:

  • literacy and numeracy skills at a level to read job instructions, operation and maintenance manuals and to complete work records
  • knowledge of the Tweed Shire road network
  • hold a current class MR (Medium Rigid) driver's licence
  • General Construction Induction Card (White Card)

Where it's located:

This position is based in Tweed Heads and can be directed to work from any Council work site.

Essential:

  1. Describe your literacy and numeracy skills at a level sufficient to enable reading of job instructions, operation and maintenance manuals and to complete work records.
  2. Describe your competency in relevant civil plant and machinery - Asphalt Truck.

                 TRANSPORT

    • Gang Truck, Single Axle Tip Truck, Flocon Truck, Chipper Truck (MR Licence)
    • Tandem Axle Tip Truck, Water Truck (HR Licence)
    • Spray Truck (MR Licence and current ChemCert chemical spray accreditation)

                 PLANT

    • Roller, Tractor Mower (C Licence)
    • Street and Footpath Sweeper (MR Licence)
    • Forklift (National High Risk Work Licence)
  1. Demonstrated competence in plant maintenance and cleaning procedures - Asphalt Truck.
  2. Demonstrated communication skills and the capacity to work as a member of a team.
  3. Demonstrated competence in preparing and maintaining accurate records within required timeframes, for example – daily run sheets, safety checks and timesheets.
  4. General Construction Induction Card (White Card)

 Desirable:

  1. Sound knowledge of Tweed Shire road network.
  2.  Hold additional National High Risk Work Licences and/or RMS heavy vehicle licence (MR, HR or HC) for other plant and machinery listed in this position description.
  3. Demonstrated experience in the operation of one or more additional plant and machinery listed in this position description.
