Tweed Shire Council Laboratory Centre is a water and soil environmental testing laboratory that services the Tweed and various external clients. This position manages the overall operations of the Tweed Laboratory Centre. This is a great opportunity to become part of a small, dedicated team that takes pride in providing high-quality analytical testing services.

About the role:

  • Operate Council’s NATA-accredited laboratory as a viable commercial activity that conducts analytical testing of water and soil using best practice quality control and assurance management measures.
  • Enhance the capacity of the laboratory to improve the services available in identified areas of expertise and provide an advisory service to internal and external clients.
  • Develop the annual budget for the Tweed Laboratory Centre and reconcile expenditure and revenue across this budget quarterly.

We are seeking:

  • Tertiary qualification to a postgraduate level in a relevant discipline, demonstrated knowledge and experience.
  • Extensive knowledge of NATA's accreditation requirements and demonstrated knowledge of guidelines of Water and Wastewater quality, such as NH&MRC, WHO, ANZECC, EPA, etc.
  • Financial and strategic planning, customer liaison, and marketing.

This position is based at the Tweed Laboratory Centre - Banora Point and can be directed to work from any Council work site.
