An exciting opportunity to join Tweed Shire Council in this newly created position of Technical Officer Meter Reading and Maintenance. 

About the role:

  • manage the reading, maintenance and replacement of Council's water meter and metered standpipe fleets to ensure accurate, timely and efficient customer water billing
  • provide leadership of the meter reading team, including technical support and advice
  • lead and investigate water consumption irregularities and faults and implement corrective action.

We are seeking:

  • certificate level qualifications or above in a related technical field, or extensive experience relevant to the role
  • demonstrated working knowledge of how water meters and metered standpipes work, water billing and relevant government regulation
  • exceptional customer service skills and high-level verbal and written communication skills.

Where it's located:

This position is based in Tweed Heads and can be directed to work from any Council work site.

  4. Detail your experience in the monitoring and analysis of water meter and standpipe performance and identifying and implementing corrective action to ensure reliable and accurate customer water billing.
  5. Describe and give examples of your high-level-problem-solving skills to identify, respond to and resolve customer inquiries related to water supply, water consumption anomalies, water leaks and water theft.
  6. Please describe your working knowledge of, and ability to conduct, minor repairs and maintenance of water meters and metered standpipes.
