Council has an exciting opportunity for a Community Programs Officer Cadet to be involved in all aspects of delivering innovative programs to our community which strive to build capacity, enhance wellbeing and strengthen social cohesion. This will include working across a variety of target groups, locations and community issues ensuring you gain hands on experience while studying part time to obtain your social sciences or community development qualifications.

The Community Development team are responsible for the organisation, development, and implementation of community programs across the City and will work closely with the Community Planning Team to make sure what we deliver is effective and evidence based.

Reporting to the Team Leader Community Programs, this role will assist the Community Development team deliver a range of programs and other initiatives that promote community awareness.

  • Temporary full time position for up to four years (depending on stage of course completion)
  • 35 hours per week, including evening and weekends as required
  • Commencing salary starting from $52,358.80 per annum (depending on stage of course completion) 
  • 11.5% superannuation
  • Payment of course fees upon receipt of enrolment record
  • Additional Allowance of $230 per subject for essential student expenses such as administration fees, course materials including textbooks and prescribed readings
  • Study and Examination Leave for face-to-face and online courses
  • Structured Cadetship Program including a Mentor and Peer Program
  • Great organisational culture with a strong, values led and progressive team 
  • Access to local government benefits such as; three weeks sick leave per annum, Fitness Passport, Provident Fund activities etc.  

Please Note this position: 

  • Requires a National Police History Check clearance.
  • Requires a current "Working with Children Check" clearance in accordance with the 'Child Protection (WWC) Act 2012 for Paid workers.
  • Includes working evenings and weekends as required.
