Council’s Technical and Recreation Services teams are energetic and passionate about delivering exceptional customer service to our Community, Customers, Councillors and Council.  

We are seeking an enthusiastic and dedicated person who is interested in undertaking a 12 month traineeship in Business Administration.  

The role will support the Administration team to complete administration duties required across the business stream. You will develop skills in administration and customer service based at the Shellharbour Civic Centre.

This opportunity is open to both school leavers and mature age applicants who are eligible for admission to the Certificate III in Business Administration and who do not already hold a Certificate III qualification or higher. The traineeship will cover both practical and theoretical requirements supported by TAFE. This role is a temporary 12 month fixed term development entry level role. 

The traineeship has an anticipated start date in January 2025 and cover both practical and theoretical requirements supported by TAFE.

Council's Cadet, Apprentice and Trainee (CAT) Program aims to develop future leaders by providing employment opportunity and professional development experiences that support and complement a related course of external tertiary study. Council’s cadets, apprentices or trainees receive ongoing training, guidance and support from workplace mentors while completing a nationally recognised qualification.

  • Temporary full time, 35 hours per week up to 12 months (or the duration of the traineeship)
  • Salary up to $809.70 per week (Dependent on school level achieved and years out of school)
  • Plus 11.5% superannuation
  • On the job training
  • Compulsory course costs are paid by Council
  • Up to 3 hours of study time per week
