The Opportunity

Lithgow City Council has an exciting opportunity for a Plant Operator - Backhoe to join their Rural Works team.

Reporting to the Rural Works Coordinator you will be responsible for the loading of materials and excavation of trenches whilst operating the backhoe loader and other duties as required. As a skilled operator within the team, there will be regular opportunities to relieve in various positions throughout the team, improving your skills in the construction field. 

More specifically, your duties will include (but will not be limited to):

  • Operate and maintain backhoe
  • Excavate trenches and assist in laying pipes
  • Load Trucks with road base, pipes, drums and other materials
  • Perform field duties in a roadwork environment
  • Set up traffic procedures and control traffic
  • Perform roadworks

About you

The successful candidate will meet the following criteria:

  • Class C Drivers Licence 
  • Demonstrated competency in the operation of a backhoe 
  • WH&S Induction for Construction Works Certificate (Whitecard) 
  • Traffic Control Ticket 
  • Willingness to undertake additional training 
  • Demonstrated Commitment to Work Health & Safety and Risk Management procedures 
  • Demonstrated ability to work in a team environment 
  • Demonstrated commitment to the principles of integrity and honesty

In addition, an ideal candidate would have demonstrated competency in plant operator tickets, MR Licence, previous labouring experience and previous experience in the operation of a backhoe.

  • Between $1,106.51 and $1,223.37 per week, commensurate with your skills, qualifications and experience
  • Permanent Full-time, 38 hours per week
