We have an exciting opportunity to join our HR team in a 12 month contract, and play a vital role in supporting and enabling our community focused organisation.  

The Human Resources Business Partner plays a critical role in partnering with people leaders and functions across Council. This role works closely with people leaders and other members of the HR team to provide guidance, coaching and advice on job design, ER solutions, diversity, work health and safety, well being, remuneration. 

This role contributes to the effective management of the Council workforce, ensuring the application of appropriate legislation (Local Government (State) Award), relevant agreements and Council policies, and will also contribute heavily to the design and delivery of critical HR projects.

To be successful in this role you will be a team player, have strong capabilities around facilitating change, stakeholder engagement and influencing skills, and have the ability to work in a fast-paced diverse environment.

Key Requirements

  • Tertiary qualifications in Human Resources management or a related field
  • Minimum 5 years’ experience in a similar role, providing proactive and flexible service and support to stakeholders
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with the proven ability to develop and maintain successful relationships at all levels across the organisation
  • Team player but also able to work independently
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to analyse information and formulate pragmatic solutions to meet business requirements
  • Excellent organisational skills and attention to detail
  • Ability to comprehend, interpret, and apply the appropriate Awards & Council policies and other applicable regulations
  • Demonstrated ability to use coaching skills to influence adoption of good human resource practices
  • Demonstrated ability to carry out multiple HR projects and achieve set goals within the required time frame
  • A current NSW Class C Drivers Licence

This position requires a pre employment health assessment which includes a functional, audio and drug and alcohol screen.

Salary: $97,645 to $102,588 pa (dependent on skills and experience) + superannuation   

Position Status: Full-time, Fixed Term Parental Leave Contract (up to 12 months) 

Hours of work: 35 hours per week, with an RDO every third week.
