Salary: Commencing rate of $28.35 per hour + 25% casual loading. Weekend penalty rates apply on Saturdays and Sundays.

The Position

The primary object of the Pool Attendant is to supervise patrons within the pool environment to assist in preventing drowning.

The Pool Attendant is also responsible for:

  • Maintaining public safety
  • the smooth running of the swimming pool
  • operating the pool efficiently
  • compliance with health standards
  • carrying out maintenance of amenities, grounds, and pool infrastructure.

Training

To encourage applicants, Council will provide Lifeguard training at Council’s expense for successful candidates that do not possess current Lifeguard Certification. Training will be scheduled subject to availability for successful applicants wishing to take up this opportunity (dates to be confirmed).

Essential Requirements

  • Commitment to Council’s Mission, Values and Code of Conduct
  • Understanding of work health and safety (WHS) in the workplace and commitment to a positive contribution to WHS in the workplace and compliance with Council and legislative requirements
  • Pool Lifeguard Certificate or ability to obtain same prior to commencement of duties
  • Current Working with Children Check for paid employment
  • Current First Aid Certificate
  • Current Senior Resuscitation Certificate or equivalent
  • Proven work ethic and ability to provide excellent customer service
  • Proven ability to resolve conflict
  • Physically fit for the tasks of the job
  • Good oral and written communication skills and an approachable manner
  • Ability to work alone or under limited supervision to an agreed standard
  • Proven ability to remain calm in an emergency/life threatening situation
  • Class C NSW Drivers Licence.

Desirable Requirements

  • Certificate III in Sport, Aquatics and Recreation or equivalent relevant qualification
  • Minimum 1 year’s experience as a lifeguard in a public pool
  • Chemical Handling certification or equivalent
