The Role
Working in the Directorate of Relocations and Housing (DRH), offers a unique opportunity to directly support over 60,000 full-time Defence members and their families. Each year, during peak posting cycles, around 20,000 ADF members relocate across Australia - and DRH plays a central role in ensuring these moves are delivered smoothly and in line with Defence obligations. In this role, you will contribute to complex and rewarding work that underpins the wellbeing of Defence families and the delivery of Defence capability. You will be part of a high-performing, integrated and diverse team, where no two days are the same.
Key responsibilities include:
- Providing high-level operational, administrative and business support.

About our Team
The Directorate of Relocations and Housing (DRH) is responsible for delivering high-quality housing and relocation services that enable ADF members and their families to focus on their operational duties. We manage these services under a range of national contracts, ensuring Defence policies and obligations are met. DRH is made up of several small, specialised teams that work closely with external service providers to achieve Defence’s operational objectives. While each team has a particular area of focus, the dynamic nature of the directorate means you will have the opportunity to work across a variety of areas and gain exposure to different aspects of Defence housing and relocation services.
Our current work streams include:
- Managing and overseeing ADF relocations and removals (contracted to Toll).
- Administering ADF housing through the service agreement with Defence Housing Australia (DHA).
- Driving improvements to relocation and housing processes through customer engagement.
- Coordinating ADF on-base accommodation bookings.
- Delivering the Defence Home Ownership Assistance Scheme.
- Providing Defence stakeholder oversight of Defence Housing Australia.
- Business coordination and administration support across the directorate.
