About the
Role
As
the lead for stormwater project delivery at Townsville City
Council, you'll oversee the planning, design, and provision of
technical advice for both Capital and Operational stormwater
initiatives, ensuring high standards of quality, cost-efficiency,
and timely execution. The role is responsible for preparing
detailed reports that outline cost, risk, and performance metrics
to support the prioritisation of new or upgraded stormwater
projects within the Council’s 10-year Capital Works
Plan.
This
involves close collaboration with internal and external
stakeholders to develop effective stormwater design solutions, and
managing projects through their planning, concept, and design
phases, including coordination with external consultants. The role
will prepare grant funding applications and maintain comprehensive
documentation. As a subject matter expert, you'll provide
high-level technical advice on stormwater asset conditions and
contribute to the development and review of Council policies and
strategies related to stormwater infrastructure
management.
About
You
Our ideal candidate
will have:
- Degree in
Engineering (Civil or Environmental) and RPEQ (or obtained
within 12 months of appointment); coupled with extensive
experience in design, maintenance and operation of stormwater
infrastructure. Post Graduate qualifications would be highly
regarded. - Demonstrated
extensive leadership skill and expertise in leading a team and
motivating others to succeed. - Comprehensive
knowledge of stormwater and flood mitigation issues, hydraulic
and hydrology design principles and stormwater asset management
within Local Government. - Comprehensive
knowledge of stormwater design principles, particularly any
relevant industry best practice guidelines, standards,
environmental legislation and their application to the design
and planning of stormwater matters and knowledge of cadastral,
land title and easement documentation as they relate to Council
Policy and Legislative requirements. - Excellent
arbitration, negotiation and interpersonal skills to enable the
effective communication of acceptable and suitable outcomes
with stakeholders along with an advanced standard of written
communication. - Excellent time
management, problem solving skills and an awareness of project
management methods, procurement processes and contracting
principles. - Current
“C” class driver’s licence.
