Primary objective
Contribute to the delivery of Health Care Services and the continuity of care of patients by providing an effective transport service
for Royal Darwin Hospital.

Key duties and responsibilities
1. To provide safe, timely and effective transport of all patients requiring inter facility transport, ensuring that appropriate

standards of care are provided.
2. Ability to assist with safe transfer of patients in a variety of situations.
3. Competence in operating patient transport stretchers, wheelchair lift/load or willingness to learn.
4. Ensure accurate records are maintained for departmental purposes through relevant data collection and appropriate record

keeping.
5. Maintain transport vehicles and equipment ensuring that vehicles are kept in a clean and hygienic condition.
6. Undertake safety equipment checks.
7. Respect patient’s dignity, privacy, and confidentiality at all times.
8. Complete the RDPH mandatory competency requirements comprising of on-line and practical assessments.
9. Follow defined service delivery quality standards, Work Health and Safety policies and procedures relating to the work being

undertaken to ensure high quality, safe service, and workplaces.
10.Preparedness to work a rotating 7-day week roster.

Selection criteria
Essential
1. Effective interpersonal, listening, written and verbal communication skills.
2. Physically capable of transferring patients, loading / unloading and assisting patients on/off stretchers and loading of wheelchair

patients in/out of transport vehicles.
3. Be capable of communicating effectively with people of all nationalities in a multicultural environment.
4. Demonstrated ability to work independently and with limited supervision and a as a team member.
5. Preparedness and capacity to work a rotating roster which includes morning, afternoon shifts and weekends as needed.
6. Current Northern Territory LR class drivers’ licence and must have a safe driving record.
7. Ability to undertake a Cert III in Aged Care or Health Support Services, first aid and basic life support.
8. Must hold a current NT Working with Children Card.
9. Able to demonstrate immunisation history.
