About the Opportunity
Council has opportunities for enthusiastic, motivated people to join the Transport Infrastructure Team in Cudal and Orange as Road Maintenance Officers.
The primary purpose of this role is to contribute as member of a team providing a broad range of road maintenance and construction activities, including machinery operation and drainage works, while ensuring cost efficient delivery of service, a safe working environment for all and adherence to the required standards.
Work teams are led by a supportive and proactive leadership team. You will be provided support and training in line with Council's values to learn the role and ensure our workers are resilient, adaptive and are able to perform to Council and community expectations.

This fulltime position operates over a 38-hour week with a 9-day fortnight, with opportunity for overtime.

Detailed Responsibilities
Work as a member of a team to effectively and efficiently undertake roadworks activities to assist in relevant works including:
o undertaking road construction and maintenance activities,
o undertaking traffic control duties,
o undertaking manual works,
o conducting roadside maintenance,
o undertaking site specific inductions and actively participate in toolbox meetings,
o accurately completing all relevant records including timesheets, prestart checklist, risk assessments and other legislative related paperwork,
o undertaking light plant maintenance and operation on designated items of plant within operator’s capabilities and certification,
o undertaking work outside of normal hours and overtime as required to progress or complete assigned tasks including emergency repair works.
What Do You Need to Be Successful?
Essential
- Construction Induction Certification (White Card).
- Class C drivers' licence.
- Effective communication skills with the ability to understand and follow detailed written and verbal instructions.
- Demonstrated commitment to a team-based approach, reliability and punctuality, with a proven ability to work in a team environment.
- Displays a positive attitude.
Desirable
- Class HR driver’s licence.
- Chainsaw Certification.
- Current Implement Traffic Control Plans and Traffic Controller Certification.
Other details relating to this position are:
- Employment is under the Local Government (State) Award 2023.
- This position is graded 3-4 in Council's salary system.
- Gross weekly wage range is $1044.10 to $1180.50 dependent upon qualifications and experience.
