Job Description
Queenscliff Bowling Bowling and Tennis & Croquet Club is seeking a qualified and experienced Cook to join our team on a full-time basis. We are a growing business with exciting future plans and are looking for someone passionate, motivated, and committed to high culinary standards.
Key Responsibilities
The Cook will play a central role in kitchen operations, ensuring efficient workflow, quality control, and exceptional food preparation. Duties include:
- Examine food ingredients and foodstuffsto ensure freshness, quality, and compliance with food safety standards.
- Regulate and monitor temperatures of ovens, grills, fryers, and other cooking equipment to ensure correct cooking conditions.
- Prepare, cook, and present food itemsaccording to menu specifications and customer orders.
- Season and adjust food during cooking to achieve required taste, texture, and presentation standards.
- Portion and plate meals, adding sauces, gravies, and garnishes to maintain consistency and visual appeal.
- Store food items correctly in temperature-controlled environments to maintain freshness and prevent contamination.
- Prepare meals for customers with special dietary needs, including allergies, intolerances, and cultural or medical requirements.
- Plan menus and estimate food and supply requirements, considering cost, availability, and expected customer demand (if required by the business).
- Train, supervise, and guide kitchen staff and apprentices in food preparation, cooking methods, hygiene, and kitchen safety (where applicable).
Skill & Experience
- Certificate III/IV in Commercial Cookery/Kitchen Management or equivalent trade qualification.
- Minimum 3 years’ experience as a Cook or in a similar role.
- Strong culinary skills and passion for food.
- Ability to work under pressure calmly and professionally.
- Excellent knowledge of kitchen hygiene and safety standards.
- Reliable, punctual, honest, and self-motivated.
- Strong interpersonal skills and ability to work within a team.
- Ability to multitask and maintain high standards during busy service.
- Available to work weekdays and weekends as rostered.
- Must be able to commute or relocate to Belmont, VIC prior to starting.
