We are seeking a dedicated professional with to supervise and guide the Biosecurity Team to deliver high-quality, hands-on weed control services across the Tamworth Region. This role offers the opportunity to make a real impact through inspections, landholder engagement, enforcement actions and education programs aimed at preventing and managing weed risks. You’ll work closely with stakeholders, apply your technical expertise and play a key role in ensuring Council meets its legislative responsibilities.
The Biosecurity Specialsist role is primarily responsible for:
- Leading, supervising and implementing the overall functions of the Biosecurity Team to ensure effective compliance with relevant Acts, Regulations and Industry standards
- Providing senior specialist and technical hands-on operational service in responding to the range of weeds responsibilities and matters across the Tamworth Region
- Delivering a high level of Biosecurity control services to customers both internal and external, through the efficient management of the Biosecurity team
- Liaising with landowners and key stakeholders in the delivery of Weed Biosecurity Officer functions with a strong focus on preventing, eliminating or mitigating weed biosecurity risk
- Conducting inspections in support of biosecurity weeds identification providing advice and assisting landowners in the identification, control and elimination of weeds
- Assisting Council in meeting its responsibilities relating to Weed Biosecurity in accordance with legislation and agreed levels of services, including carrying out inspections, control works and enforcement action, in an operationally efficient manner.
- Carry out the functions of a Weed Biosecurity Authorised Officer under the NSW Biosecurity Act 2015
TO BE SUCCESSFUL IN THIS ROLE YOU WILL NEED
- Certificate III in Conservation & Land Management (specialising in weeds) or similar OR significant relevant experience
- Biosecurity Act Authorised Officers Training
- AQF3 ChemCert Certificate
- Drivers Licence

Salary range: Grade 15 - $86,308.58 - $93,394.43 per annum plus superannuation for a 38 hour work week. Salary may be negotiated based on skills, experience and your value to our organisation.
Flexible working arrangements will be considered by mutual agreement and according to operational requirements.
