GEBIE Civil and Construction (GCC) is the commercial subsidiary of Groote Eylandt and Bickerton Island Enterprises Aboriginal Corporation (GEBIE). GCC undertakes Civil and Construction projects across the Groote Archipelago and has a commercial workshop for vehicles, plant, and equipment.

We have an opportunity for an experienced Batch Plant Manager to join the GCC team and work in the community in a wide-ranging role.

This is a preferred residential role, however, will also be available as a FIFO position from Cairns or Darwin.

Duties and responsibilities will include: 

  • Extensive knowledge of concrete products, mix designs and their performance limitations across a wide range of applications

  • Meet customer requirements by ensuring quality product delivered.

  • Accurate batching of orders to meet the requirements of specified mix designs

  • Accurate batching of orders utilising the JONEL computer system

  • Allocation of trucks ensuring timely concrete deliveries

  • Undertake batch plant administration including stock control of raw materials.

  • Support the Civil Manager with scheduling maintenance for all P&E and trucks.

  • Ensure pre-starts are completed daily by all personnel and maintenance records are updated.

  • Day to day administration of batch site

  • General yard and plant housekeeping and maintenance 

  • Follow company systems including working safely.

The key skills, experience and attributes: 

  • Knowledge and experience in computerised batching system is essential

  • An ability to multitask and at times work under pressure

  • Possess an excellent customer service phone manner.    

  • Construction White Card

  • Front End Loader ticket

  • Possess excellent time management and organisational skills.

  • Well-developed written and verbal communication skills

  • A proven ability to work within a team environment.

  • Current HR driver's licence would be an advantage. 

This role will work closely with our Civil Department; previous civil construction exposure is advantageous.
